So tonight is the last LED being held at the SJU in Utrecht. Kinda sucks, but understandable, since the SJU is getting some grief for not hosting Jazz (SJU operates as a Jazz Foundation, dus…) and LED is one of their biggest parties. But whatever, i’m sure Jaymo will find a new location next year, and things will stay dope. Regardless of where it ends up, tonight is gonna be fun. I’m finally gonna roll out to Utrecht for an LED (Class/A doing visuals all night mayne!) – something i’ve been meaning to do for the past year now, but just never got around to it. If you live in Utrecht, I suggest you roll out, ’cause some of the town’s best dubstep talent is gonna be there. Here’s the lineup:

Milez – dubstep mixtape vol. 4
Friday, September 25th, 2009Milez, aka Mathias Schwarzwald, is a dj/producer of various disciplines. His myspace page has his own production work on it, and that mainly consists of slow building, kinda minimal techno. But just as he has James Holden in his top 8 friends on myspace, he also has Synkro and Joker. So, maybe that gives an apt representation of his musical interests. It looks like he djs more on the minimal tech side of things, but I know he played at a Dub City party once, so he’s seemingly open for dubstep bookings too. Anyways, long story short, dude just put out his 4th dubstep mixtape thing and it’s worth a listen. Good tune selection and an overall upbeat feel. Never gets too deep, never gets too heavy – kinda like some nice Thai stick. Check out the mix:

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009[moos] is a vj/producer duo (Maurice Dohmen and Jorrit H Poelen) from Utrecht. They do dubstep/technoish type music, and then accompany it with their own visuals. This year they recently were selected as one of 12 finalists in the Dance category of the Grote Prijs van Nederland (for those who don’t know, its a large national musical competetion in Holland). They concert to decide the winners is still a ways off, but we thought we’d let you know that their 20 min. mix for the comp is out, and worthy of listen. It’s pretty deep digital sounding dubstep mix, done on Ableton live, an composed of all their own productions. Check out:

DUBieus, for those who don’t know, is dubstep crew from Utrecht consisting of Dj Plus, Ew00t, & Chrome. They all DJ, and Chrome also makes beats (check dj Plus’s section in the podcast).
